Dmitry Kryukov

Dmitry Kryukov is the chief conductor of the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Bashkortostan, People’s Artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the S. Yulaev State Prize winner.

He is one of the most sought-after young conductors in Russia, who has successfully established himself on the Russian and foreign stages. He graduated from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (2015) and completed a postgraduate course at the Moscow Conservatory (2017) in the class of Professor Valery Polyansky. In 2009, he joined the State Academic Symphony Capella of Russia as an assistant to Valery Polyansky.

He regularly collaborates with remarkable orchestras, including the State Academic Symphony Chapel of Russia Orchestra, the E. F. Svetlanov State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia, the Russian National Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Moscow Philharmonic, the Symphony Orchestra of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia, etc.

Dmitry Kryukov’s repertoire includes more than 70 operas, as well as music of various eras and styles from J. S. Bach to S. Gubaydullina, the main symphonic, opera and concert works by prominent composers of that period.

During 2018, Dmitry Kryukov was the principal guest conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Bashkortostan. Since 2019, he has been working as a principal conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Bashkortostan (nowadays the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Bashkortostan). In 2021, Kryukov was awarded the title of «Honored Artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan». In 2022, Kryukov was awarded the Gratitude certificate of the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, and in the same year he became the S. Yulaev State Prize winner. In 2024, Kryukov was awarded the honorary title of «People’s Artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan».

In 2021, Dmitry Kryukov, as a principal conductor, presented the orchestra’s solo programs on the stage of the Moscow State Academic Philharmonic, in the famous P. I. Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and on the stage of the Great Hall of the St. Petersburg Academic Philharmonic named after D.D. Shostakovich, as well as at the VI Symphony Forum of Russia in Yekaterinburg for the first time, earning high praise from Russian critics and recognition from listeners.

The most important achievements of the State Orchestra of Bashkortostan under the direction of Dmitry Kryukov are as follows:

  • since April 2021, the orchestra has been touring Russia annually
  • in May 2022, the orchestra participated in the 10th International Arts Festival «Dedicated to Victory Day…» on the stage of the Great Hall of the P.I. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, where the world premiere of David Krivitsky’s «War Cantata» based on the poems of Arseny Tarkovsky was presented.
  • in September 2022, the orchestra presented a solo concert on the stage of the P.I. Tchaikovsky Concert Hall together with People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Denis Matsuev, opening the 101st concert season of the Moscow State Academic Philharmonic for the first time in its history.
  • in August 2023, the State Orchestra of the Republic of Bashkortostan performed on Palace Square as part of the Days of Culture of Bashkortostan in St. Petersburg.
  • in October 2023, for the first time in the history of Bashkortostan culture, the State Orchestra with the support of the Federal State Budgetary Cultural Institution Rosconcert, presented the «My Rachmaninoff» marathon dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the great composer in the major cities of the Far East — Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Vladivostok and Blagoveshchensk.
  • in December 2023, the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Bashkortostan became for the first time the winner of the 440 Hertz Grand Orchestral Prize, established by People’s Artist of the USSR Yury Temirkanov, in three nominations.
  • in April 2024, as part of a tour, the orchestra together with pianist D. Matsuev, triumphantly performed in two main cultural capitals of Russia — the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory and, for the first time in its history, in the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theater, marking the beginning of a new stage in the development of Bashkortostan culture.
